I've carried ham radio in trucks since 1978 when I started out with a Yaesu Memorizer FT227R (it still works!). My current rig is a Yaesu FT857D all band, all mode transceiver in a Kenworth day cab. I run all over SE Arizona, into New Mexico, Texas, and occasionally California and Nevada. In the picture below on the right mirror there is a Hustler dual band antenna, CB antenna, and satellite radio antenna. On the left mirror is my CB and a Hamstick on a Firestik quick disconnect. I have since removed the left CB antenna and changed over to Hustler resonators on the 22" mast on the Firestik quick disconnect. I also have a 6 meter Firestik antenna so, I work all phone bands from 75 thru 440 except 220. On VHF, I monitor the EAARS Network when I'm close to home. On UHF I monitor JPARA repeaters. On HF I check 14,302.5 daily, 28,380, if I suspect an opening, around 1800Z (10-10 Net time).
